Beating the flu
When you are sick, your immune system has basically been weakened and that’s when you become most susceptible to getting colds and the flu. Everyone hates getting sick because you feel weak, tired and in pain. Well at least that’s how I felt after getting a bad flu, which I caught on the plane ride back home from my recent trip to the US.
Beating the flu really comes down to building your immune system back up to full strength so that it can heal itself.
When I’m personally run down and sick I find these next steps get me better within a few days. This is a quick post so I wont go into to much detail on each step, but feel free to research the benefits.
1. Rest: You must rest in order to let your body heal faster
2. Limit food portions: By limiting the size of your meals, your body will have more energy to build your immune system back up instead of using that energy to digest large meals. You must only eat fresh fruit, salad, veggies and small portions of lean meat (cooked chicken, fish etc…)
3. Olive Leaf Extract. Which is an antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral. You can buy it from most chemists. I dilute some into my water bottle to drink throughout the day. Check the label for instructions.
4. Echinacea 5000mg capsules. I take Echinacea 5000 tablets also to boost my immune system.
5. Vitamin C 500-1000mg tablets. I find vitamin c just helps boost my immune system faster.
6. Sauna. I have a sauna every 2-3days when I’m sick to help detoxify my body and sweat out any toxins.
7. Tea. I have lemon honey tea throughout the day. I squeeze 1/2 a lemon and put 1 tspn of raw honey into a mug with boiling water.
8. Throat Lollies. I take fisherman friends throat lozenges if i have a sore throat and blocked nose.
9. Garlic: Add lost of fresh chopped garlic to your salads and diet. Garlic has many immune boosting properties
Make sure you check the labels and the instructions on the products you buy as they may vary from country and brand.
If you have any remedies that you know work, feel free to post a comment.
Keep your diet nutritious and body well rested to keep your body, mind and spirit strong…
