GSP: THE BEST FIGHTER OF ALL TIME

by on April 10th, 2011

GSP is the greatest fighter of all time in my opinion. He trains separately in several different martial arts and embodies the true essence of a mixed martial artist by synergizing them all together when he fights. If you watch him you will understand and see that he uses his skill, he doesn’t fight like a brawler that just throws haymakers.

Leg Kicks are one of the most basic kicks in Muay Thai and also one of the most leathal. You can stop a fight with a leg kick if you hit the right spot. by on March 19th, 2011

Practicing body shots is a great addition to your boxing combo’s. Once you perfect your body shot you should be able to drop your sparring partner down onto one knee if you hit them in the right spot and generate enough power. Make sure you practice off both sides to enhance your skill and coordination. Its also great to practice body shots on a partner wearing a belly pad. I will try and get a video of what i mean, so stay tuned…

How to Box on a floor to ceiling ball

by on March 19th, 2011

Boxing is one of the best ways to get fit and to improve in self defense. Not only is boxing a superb functional sport but it can also help us strengthen, tone up, improve our stamina, speed, coordination and muscular endurance.
After training for a while on a punching bag you may find you are up for the next challenge and that’s where a boxing floor to ceiling ball comes into your program. It will help you develop well rounded skill and especially if you are going to start sparring. I find with quite a few clients when i first get them on the ball they try to smash it – and results in them probably landing one clean shot in about 1minute. So watch the video below and start slow getting your rythum and then the speed and combo’s will come.

SPEED

by on October 4th, 2010

Get those legs moving into sprints and get those arms punching on the boxing bag. Are a couple of the basic and great ways to increase your speed. But why are you trying to get faster, is it sports specific???

I train people mainly for sports like MMA, Kickboxing, Motorcross, Soccer and just general local legends (great people in my community) that love to keep fit, strong, healthy and their body in great shape. So what im going to touch on today is a bit about some simple and effective speed exercises that will get you as fast as Mr Miogy off the Karate Kid : ) Well maybe not that fast…
